About Liana

My photo
Brisbane, Australia
My studio is located in Brisbane, Australia. For the past 10 years I’ve been enjoying creating jewellery designs from an array of mundane materials. Tupperware and knitting needles have remained a firm favourite. My designs have been published numerous times, graced the shelves of many wonderful galleries and stores and been worn by those whose aren’t afraid of colour and attention. All of which I am very grateful for. For several years I’ve also been fortunate enough to work with many businesses as a coach and workshop facilitator.

Happy Customer

My first Italian customer sent me this photo to let me know her order arrived. I think she is pleased!

My bangle made it to Italy. I think it would be nice if one day I could too...Anyway it is that time of year to dream a little and think about what we desire for the New Year. I hope we all get what we want (and a little of what we need) in 2009!

Happy Holiday Wishes

I want to wish you all happiness for this holiday season. There are many things I could wish for (I really, really want that pink camera), and that I could wish for you at this time, but there really is nothing more important than being happy and healthy. So that is what I hope for us all, now and for the New Year.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and for all the support you have given me over the past year. It hasn't always been an easy one, but at the end of it I just feel happy and grateful, and that really is as much as I could ask for (OK maybe that iPod too).

The Chicken Or The Egg?

I've had a sudden rush of enthusiasm for my etsy shop. So consequently all this week I'll be adding a ton of specials and one of a kind pieces!

All Australian buyers are welcome to pay in AUD by direct deposit or through Paypal. Also I am happy to send orders now by express or registered post, at no extra cost. Also all regular pieces, such as the Knitwit bangles ($35) and Measure Up brooches ($45), will be charged at the regular RRP, but the specials really are at a great price for all AU and US buyers!

If any of that wasn't clear just email me - lianakabel@hotmail.com

Funny how my enthusiasm peaked after I started my own Christmas shopping list! Is it just me, or does Christmas shopping for others always ends up as Christmas shopping for me too?!

PS Yes, there is a theme.

Great Expectations

Do you aim high and risk disappointment? Or do you aim low in the hope that you may be pleasantly surprised?

My tendency in the past has been to aim low. My tendency in recent years is to aim high. In this way I can at least feel like I have giving it a go regardless of the outcome. Although having been a devote of both practices I'd say now that aiming high is the way to go, for me anyway. You tend to push yourself more, expect more for yourself, and end up achieving more than you had expected. It doesn't tend to happen in a straight line though. You fail. You get knocked back. You feel disappointed. But you tend to get better at bouncing back and trying again. The more you achieve the more you know you can achieve.

PS Thank you to everyone who came along to the GoMA market. I had a great day with lots of sales, lots of friends and the, always lovely, opportunity of meeting some terrific new people!
