I just realised that the Collect store opens today. The store formally located at The Rocks, Sydney has now moved into their new location at Surry Hills. I am a bit excited about stocking them since Surry Hills is just about my most favourite place.
It was the place I started hanging out with friends since I was a teenager. I lived in a couple of different terrace houses in years gone by and was a regular at my favourite haunts, like the Hopetoun , the Trade Union Club, the Cricketers Arms, Clock Hotel (when they had pool tables), Shakespeare Hotel and No Names restaurant. I guess it is also special since I was one of those babies born at the hospital that has now transformed into Object Gallery.
Surry Hills has had a bit of a makeover since my days as a regular and I guess that is a good thing if I hope to sell work there. Judging by my list of favourite places I wasn't spending much time shopping, unless you count the necessary trips to Woolies on Crown St.

I wonder whether we might have been at the same pubs at the same time and not known it. Although I imagine I might be a slightly older vintage than you. I remember the first gig I ever went to was a punk band called "world war 24" at the Trade Union Club as a 16 year old in 1983. I remember drinking kahlua and milk!!
I'm sure you are much, much older than me (actually not!). I think that is highly possible that we were at the same gigs and pubs. It is a little hard for me to remember it all - too much VB and pink hair dye.
