Brisbane, Australia
My studio is located in Brisbane, Australia. For the past 10 years I’ve been enjoying creating jewellery designs from an array of mundane materials. Tupperware and knitting needles have remained a firm favourite. My designs have been published numerous times, graced the shelves of many wonderful galleries and stores and been worn by those whose aren’t afraid of colour and attention. All of which I am very grateful for. For several years I’ve also been fortunate enough to work with many businesses as a coach and workshop facilitator.

I've Just Landed In Rome

Well I'm actually sitting in my pyjamas in Brisbane typing this, but my 11 yr old German/Italian/Spanish/Irish Australian daughter has just flown over unaccompanied to Europe. She met up with my parents last night and will be spending the next six weeks travelling through Italy and Germany, with a couple of days in Tokyo.

I intend to put all my mother-worry anxiety into being super productive over the next six weeks. With regular orders, restocks and two exhibitions coming up I really have to be. Although I may have spaced out a bit over the last few weeks and may do so on occasion over the next six. Please forgive me if I do!

Miss 11yr old is Manga/Anime obsessed so has wanted to go to Japan more than anywhere else. When she heard she would be staying in Tokyo for a few days she was beyond excited and said to me "I'd almost given up on my dream of ever going to Japan!" AT 11 !!! Well I guess she is like her mum, we both have big dreams and it just goes to show that dreams can come true! Now I'm just a little worried about what her dreams will be like at 18.....

One of Miss 11 yr old's drawings (she doesn't mind the limelight one bit, although I don't know if you could call my blog that!?)

That is too, too funny. Almost given up her dreams. That's why you don't strangle those surly teens and preteens, for the entertainment value they provide. I followed a link here from Mike Wades blog, but I'm Knitsonya in my flickr incarnation.

I know how you feel - my 11 year old son got on a plane last week - although he was with his dad, and will only be done another week. Still, it is hard. Like you, I'm trying to be extra productive to keep my mind busy.

Here's hoping the time passes quickly!

Thanks everyone. My daughter is a funny kid and pretty cool too (and I am a little jealous myself)!

Anyway I have lots of orders to get through + a couple of exhibition to prepare for so I expect the time will go by pretty quickly - here's hoping.
