Tomorrow I'll spend the day with my friend Kylie J. We shall probably sit on her balcony, drink tea and chat about her recent trip to Japan. While we do that we will both be working too. I'll make brooches and Kylie will make her gorgeous poetry pots.
When you work for yourself it is important not to isolate yourself. It can be pretty hard going working alone everyday. I do like days alone, but only if there are also days when I'm not alone. Thank goodness I have MoB and good friends/colleagues like Kylie J.
pictured above - what Kylie sent me in the post recently - obviously reads my blog! Sweetheart!

You're quite right about the isolation, it's tough sometimes. Years ago I set up a weekly meeting group for self-employed design professionals, called "Small by Design", which was a great outlet for networking, friendship, and cooperation. Slowly people moved out of town, or on to different jobs, so it no longer runs - I do miss it.
I have one mate - a scientific illustrator - who still calls every week or two, and we have a chat on the phone, but I don't often get out to see people. I like the sound of your work time with Kylie!
Even a chat on the phone, or an email can help. I do both of these with others I can't easily catch up with.
