About Liana

My photo
Brisbane, Australia
My studio is located in Brisbane, Australia. For the past 10 years I’ve been enjoying creating jewellery designs from an array of mundane materials. Tupperware and knitting needles have remained a firm favourite. My designs have been published numerous times, graced the shelves of many wonderful galleries and stores and been worn by those whose aren’t afraid of colour and attention. All of which I am very grateful for. For several years I’ve also been fortunate enough to work with many businesses as a coach and workshop facilitator.

The White Cube

I found this image on flickr this morning. It was taken from a shop window display in Amsterdam (I think?). It just really appealed to me as I think it would be a great way to display/photograph some of my jewellery. It seems like such a great match - plastic gloves, domestic materials, offbeat, fun, colour - love it!! I'm just so sick of white - white galleries, white backgrounds and white plinths with clear perspex boxes. It rarely seems to be anything else.

I don't wish to inject colour and crazy display ideas for the sake of doing something different, but I do want to consider it more often. I can only hope that exhibitions/curators do too.

What a fun idea - going to consider something similar.

This is a fantastic display idea, and definitely would suit your work conceptually Liana. I say go for it!
